Dreams take time

April 2019, I moved in my first fully owned home. Nothing short of a dream for me and my wife. We spent our entire savings on this, Took a huge loan but we did it. Now comes the endless decoration plans, followup with builder for pending work and n other things seeking time, money, energy and most importantly care.

There was one more small desire that i had. The day i will have my own home, I am gonna plant a plumeria tree in it. You all must have seen it. It looks like this.

We have been living in a multistories apartment for more than last 6 years. Convenience, Security and kind of a habit, For our new home we wanted to move in a similar setup. I was lucky to get a duplex apartment with a private roof area. What not, we’ve got a spot to plant a tree. (A raised platform) It used to look like this

Lots of work pending on the platform itself, Before it can support plantation. Magic wand whoosh. Here you go. It looked like this after some cleanup and setup. Our future tree is expected to be in this left corner.

On one fine weekend, My wife was not there at home and so i decided to visit a nursery near by to check on a plumeria tree. The gardener there showed a me huge area with nearly 50+ fully grown plumeria trees. It took me really long to select a one. I had one picture in my mind and i was trying to find the fit. Then one tree catches my eyes. A beautiful fully grown 8ft high plumeria tree. It was all green, full of leaves and white beautiful flowers. Its branches were open like its appreciating life with all its hands up. I knew it was the one.

I checked upon for its transportation and installation. Making sure i don’t kill it. Gardner ensured me that he will take care of it. It was a promise which he will not be able to keep it well.

Next day morning, I got the tree at my house. That Gardner had cut many of his branches to make it fit in the lift. First ouch for me. Secondly and most importantly, He uprooted that tree without covering the roots. He came with very less soil. Hole that i had for this tree was 4ft high and was quite large.
We have to leave the tree open and get outside to get more soil. I myself had to get that done. It was a struggle.

Finally by the night we were able to plant that tree. But all its leaves were down as if there is no life in it. As if i have killed this beautiful tree. I was very sad. Gardner said give it two weeks. It will come back to its original charm. I knew if he could have been more careful, this tree would have been in a better shape.

Any ways, I waited. With each passing day all its leaves and flowers fell apart. All that left was one ripped leaf less trunk.

I watered it everyday and waited for 2 months. No sign of life. My mother said this tree is dead, leaving roots open for so long was a mistake and i should get my refund from the Gardner.

Even for next 2 months i kept on watering it everyday. At times i thought to give up and rip it off completely and do the setup again. My dad asked me to cut some more branches of it and see if it can revive. I did that too. But no luck. I still kept on watering it though.

Finally, One fine day i saw this

First leaves coming out from the bare tree trunk

Yes, first leaf came out. I was so happy to see that. After nearly 4 months, It showed sign of life. Dude you are so lucky you woke up, i had nearly decided to cut and pull you out. Thats me to the tree. :)

More Growth

More time, More Care, We are here now

If you have noticed, thats my evening tea down there that i am having with my wife on a beautiful sunset. Dreams take times to fulfil. They require clarity, constant efforts, and patience. Sometimes we may fail also. But thats ok, Our attempts should be honest. I would have still enjoyed the tea equally if this tree wouldn’t have been there.
